Grafton High School, we both went here; he graduated in 1968. I graduated in 1969.

My Brother and I

Today I think I will share some pictures of my brother and I. We were both in the picture that was on here a few days ago at the Mexican Pavilion at the Worlds Fair in Montréal in 1967. We were close growing up as we were 11 months apart in age. Many times we were referred to as "Irish Twins" we were not. As I was premature, to be true "Irish Twins", you must actually be less than one year apart. We should have been 13 months apart.

As you can see, while we were both college graduates. It is quite apparent, however, that we have very different attitudes.

I will continue this subject, next couple of days. This takes me a while for two reasons takes a long time to find pictures, because I have so many the other reason it takes so long would become apparent if you click on my site that is listed above.

These are a few pictures that were sent to me by my brother from Greece. These were taken last February.

TODAY'S POST:

This is my last post concerning the economic conditions. Suffice it to say, the current economic condition is a normal downturn that has been exacerbated by ego. The human condition is reactionary; we do the same thing over again thinking that we are doing something new. Example of this is a Ponzi scheme that was used by Bernard Madoff for years. I wonder why the scheme had a name. We had the Enron scandal, an example of people not doing their job. The AIG bailout, the General Motors bailout are all prime examples of situations that could have been avoided had people in these companies focused on making the companies profitable for the long term instead of profits for the current year or for self gain. This type of thinking became very common throughout the business world. Enough said, again my opinion.

TODAY'S TOPIC:

My opinion today again concerns the current economic situation and the stimulus package that has been put into place. This is my opinion, and should be taken as such. There is much comparison to the Great Depression, which I feel should not happen. These events are not the same nor are the economies involved. During the Great Depression unemployment had risen to between 12 and 15 million workers, or 25-30 percent of the work force. The rate today is nowhere near this, as of June 2009 the rate was 9.7%. Although this is only one statistic it certainly shows the difference between the two times. During the 1930s, most economic theory was promoted by the economist "John Maynard Keynes". He was one of the first to promote deficit spending, which was done during the Depression and has been done since, and certainly has been done today with the stimulus package. This type of theory was later refuted by another economist "Milton Friedman". I have read writings of both and they both make good points. Needless to say, we are in a recession that needs to be addressed, the big difference that I feel today is that everyone knows about it globally. It is necessary for the world to act together to bring this under control. We do not need this recession to be ended as the Depression ended. We must always remember that the stimulus for production was provided by someone named "Hitler".
